The following are 3 takeaways from the regular school board meeting held on May 19, 2025:

1. Community Education – Archery Report
   The school board heard a positive update on the growing success of the district’s archery program through Community Education. The program continues to expand and engage more students.
    
2. Celebration of Student Representative Bennet Prose
   The school board recognized and thanked SHS student Bennett Prose for his service as the school board’s student representative. His leadership and student voice made a strong impact during the year.
    
3. Committee Reports
   School board members shared updates from various committees. Topics included ongoing planning, progress on district goals, and upcoming initiatives.  School Board Committee Reports:

• Community Education Advisory: Flag football hosted its first-ever event in Sartell High School. Summer recreation participation has increased compared to last year.
   
• Legislative Network & Schools Advocating for Fair Funding (SAFF): The Minnesota State Legislature is considering two different bills to help fund school worker unemployment insurance.
   
• Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL): MSHSL is working to secure loss insurance coverage for 9th-grade students. Currently, Minnesota is the only state that does not provide this coverage at the 9th-grade level.
   
• Negotiations: The first negotiations meeting was held for the Sartell Education Association (SEA) bargaining unit.
   
• Facilities: Several maintenance projects are scheduled to take place across all district buildings during the summer. The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) project at Riverview has a planned construction date for the summer of 2026.
   
• Sartell Senior Connection: “Guess Who’s Going Out to Dinner” will take place at Jordie’s in Bowlus on July 10. The Tunes & Trucks event is scheduled for June 10. Their membership meeting and ice cream social will be held on August 12.
