The Sartell High School yearbook program, led by Rylie DeMaine, Elsa Fahleen, Emily Jelinski, and Emma Schreiber under the direction of advisor Angie Heckman, was awarded the Jostens 2022 National Yearbook Program of Excellence GOLD Level, the highest level one can achieve. 

The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.

Heckman shared, “This group of students worked very hard to make this book about celebration and supporting each other after the challenge of the pandemic. I am very proud of how hard they worked and their commitment to excellence. We had a strong crew of returning yearbook staff that helped us meet our deadlines and keep the quality up.”

Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall based on the yearbook’s arrival date at the school. The award was presented to the Sartell High School yearbook program for achieving defined criteria in all of the following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.
