Kim Larsen wins September's Sabre Staff Star award!
September 19, 2022
Congratulations to Kim Larsen, ORELC PreK teacher, for being recognized as our first Sabre Staff Star!
Her nomination includes:
Kim has served in our District for a long time, and often quietly goes unrecognized for the passion she has for PreK.
Our school wishes to honor Kim's initiative, creativity, and collaborative work, specifically with the fantastic projects to innovate our outdoor learning spaces!
Kim wrote a grant to SSEF last year for a sandbox and to order a shed built by Joe Schulte's SHS Construction students. This project, which helps our youngest learners develop large and fine motor skills, was ready to go last spring, but didn't get installed until summer.
ISD 748 Staff Stars, selected from nominations submitted by staff members, will be recognized each month at school board meetings. Thank you to Nick Phillips, SHS technology education teacher, for designing the award.

ORELC Principal Julia Bjerke (l) presented the award to Kim Larsen at the September school board meeting.
