Gene Severson receives Sabre Staff Star Award for December!
Congratulations to Gene Severson, our Sabre Staff Star for December! Gene is a Physical Education teacher at Pine Meadow Primary School and his nomination includes:
- Gene has been an integral part of the PMPS staff for many years!
- He supports the BOLT team each year by creating options for the specialist schedules. This helps in creating the MASTER Schedule for the school.
- Gene has also created monthly early out schedules so students get time to practice skills and teachers get most of their prep.
- Over the years he has worked collaboratively within the specialist team to help create fun and engaging activities including Winter Wonderland, The Olympic Games, and most recently integrating CKLA Knowledge domains into the gym.
- He embraces his role as a leader in the school by not only teaching physical education but supports students' social-emotional growth as well. He meets with students for a Check In-Check Out to set daily or weekly goals and talks through strategies to help them be successful.
- He has also helped support students by reviewing and reteaching math skills during an intervention block.
[ISD 748 Staff Stars, selected from nominations submitted by staff members, are recognized each month at school board meetings. Thank you to Nick Phillips, SHS technology education teacher, for designing the award.]
